Plato and Living the Good Life
Plato, one of the greatest philosophers of all time, wrote his dialogues in the 5th Century BC. He was addressing the issues that the world was facing at that time. What issues do we face in our own modern-day world? Ultimately, we all want a happy life – for ourselves, and for our loved ones. What makes each of us happy may vary depending on our talents and our natures, but Plato tells us that there are certain ‘not negotiables’ required to achieve that holy grail.

Marita Brewster is a foundation member of the School of philosophy in Melbourne, and has studied and tutored philosophical concepts for over 40 years.
She leads the Plato faculty in the School and facilitates seminars in Platonic philosophy in Australia and abroad. She is the author of the book ‘Dialectic – a practical guide for Philosophers’.
Marita has been instrumental in helping to instill platonic principles at Erasmus Primary School.
