Marsilio Ficino

Marsilio Ficino
Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499 Philosopher, scholar, doctor, musician, priest) was at the very heart of the Italian Renaissance. He corresponded with leading statesmen, scholars and churchmen from all over Europe. Ficino’s letters touch the heart and inspire the mind.
Philosophy, to express it in a few words, is the ascent of the mind from the lower regions to the highest, and from darkness to light. Ficino, letter 18, volume 3.
In this presentation, we will hear of his life, his place in the life of Florence, and will look at some of his letters.

Julie worked in administration at the Melbourne University clinical School and is the Mother of two children.
She has been a part of the Melbourne School of Philosophy for 17 years and tutors the Wisdom within, Sanskrit and Ficino classes.
