Democracy on Trial
It’s Ancient Athens and Democracy is prosecuting Socrates for defamation. The penalty demanded is life imprisonment. What will Socrates say in his own defense when he is cross-examined by Cleisthenes, one of the fathers of Greek Democracy? What will happen when Socrates cross-examines Democracy? If you want to find out then come along and not only witness the court case itself, but also be a member of the jury deciding Socrates’ fate. Is he guilty or innocent of defaming Democracy?

Presented by:
This presentation is a dramatic recreation of some of the recorded events in the life of Socrates and will be presented by a team of five performer/facilitators all members of the School with experience and a deep interest in Platonic studies.
